ACT NOW! Urge Inclusion of the Farm Family Preservation Act in the FY2026 Budget!

05/22/2025 @ 10:10 am

As the spring legislative session gears up for their final weeks, lawmakers continue budget negotiations and are strongly considering including the Family Farm Preservation Act (FFPA) in the budget. BUT THEY NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Make your voice heard and tell your legislators they MUST include the FFPA in the budget. Click HERE to call your state senator and representative.

Why is the FFPA important?

Depending on the asset makeup of your estate, if your individual estate is valued at $10.5 million, current estate taxes could be over $800,000. Under the FFPA, your liability could be reduced to ZERO.

  • The FFPA helps ensure that families don't have to worry about selling part or all of the farm to cover their estate tax bill.
  • Family farms can stay with the family.

What is the FFPA?

Sponsored by Senator Koehler and Representative Chung is a bipartisan effort to preserve family farms in the event of a family members death.

The FFPA aims to reform the current state tax for farm estimates only, changing the tax exclusion to a true exemption, and raising the threshold from $4 million to $6 million, tying the new exemption level to inflation and would call for adjustments each year.

The FFPA would also allow portability between spouses at the state level, which already exists under the federal estate tax.

How do I contact my legislators?
