Cook County Solar Projects
Cook County Farm Bureau® has been notified of three pending solar projects seeking to build in the county. Cottage Grove Ave. Solar 1 LLC, Torrence Ave. Solar 1 LLC, and North Cottage Grove Solar 1 LLC is seeking to build a 2 mega-watt alternating current commercial solar energy facilities consisting of up to 17.5 and 15 acres, respectively. All three facilities are located in south Cook County specifically Sauk Village and Glenwood.
All three projects have entered into Agricultural Impact Mitigation Agreements (AIMA) establishing standards and policies that the companies must follow as they construct the facilities over agricultural land. AIMA are designed to provide a high level of protection to agricultural land and address concerns of neighboring landowners.
Landowners near the facilities would have received a communication concerning the facilities. Approval of the AIMA is generally the final step in the pre-building process assuming that appropriate permits and zoning changes have previously been approved. A quick search of Cook County Zoning Appeals Board items appears to indicate that this step remains.
