Members and the Environment Benefit from MWRD's Program
Farm Bureau members and Cook County residents have the opportunity to utilize EQ biosolids and EQ compost available during the growing season at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD).
EQ biosolids are a product of wastewater treatment that supplies organic matter and improves the structure and porosity of soils. Biosolids can be used as a soil amendment or conditioner when establishing turf grass, athletics fields, parks, and other recreational areas and for restoration of brownfields and other disturbed lands. Biosolids can also be used in agricultural and hay fields.
EQ compost can be blended with topsoil and potting soil for establishing plants or used as mulch around plants. EQ compost supplies organic matter and improves the structure and porosity of soils.
Both EQ biosolids and compost meet the highest U.S. Environmental Protection Agency standards for exceptional quality.
