Lanphier to assume Chair of the Young Leaders Team

Thomas Poole, a Professional Member from Chicago, recently announced that he is relocating out of the Cook County area due to a job change which will require a change in the leadership for the Young Leaders Team. At the conclusion of the February meeting of the Young Leaders Team, the following leadership transition took place as a result.
Blake Lanphier, who has served as Vice-Chair of the group for the past year, will assume the chairmanship responsibilities. Blake serves as the farm manager of Wagner Farm in Glenview. He has a bachelor of science degree in animal sciences from Iowa State University. Blake is a 2020 graduate of the two-year agricultural educational leadership experience through the Illinois Ag Leadership Program. He provides support and program assistance for the Glenview 4-H club which is one of the largest in Cook County. Blake is a Professional Member of the CCFB.
Karina Barrios, who has served as the Recorder of the group for the past year, will step up to the Vice-Chair responsibilities. Karina is employed as a corporate food safety specialist for Ferrara Company in Chicago. She is a past Ag literacy intern through the Cook County Farm Bureau Foundation. Karina has a bachelor of science degree in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Karina is a professional member of the CCFB.
Young leader Doug Yunker volunteered to step up as the new Recorder for the group. Doug is a part of Yunker Farms, a 4th generation family farm in Northeastern Illinois. Yunker Farms grows conventional and organic corn, soybeans, wheat, and hay. Doug also works for an area agricultural company serving area farmers. Doug previously served as Chairman of the Young Leaders Group and has worked with YL members to place videos on the CCFB Facebook page to explain YL ag connections in the Chicagoland area.
Poole was elected in February 2021 to the chairmanship of the Cook County Farm Bureau Young Leaders Team for a two-year term and was very active in seeking membership acquisition and retainment in Young Leaders, networking with related organizations, and leading community service programming with the group. The Cook County Farm Bureau expresses appreciation to Tom who effectively served as the chair of the Young Leaders Group for the past year. We appreciate his leadership and ongoing enthusiasm!
