Farm Bureau Raises Concerns About the Build Back Better Legislation
With funds available through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), funds are available to expand broadband. While the expansion of broadband is beneficial on many fronts, Farm Bureau members remain concerned about the cost of the ARPA. To that end, members are preparing the following letter to the members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation.
The undersigned Illinois Farm Bureau members attending our association’s 107th annual meeting in Chicago strongly oppose President Biden’s Build Back Better legislation. Our opposition is largely around the proposal’s massive amount of spending -- $1.75 trillion over the next decade – and its tax increases which will surely have ripple effects throughout the U.S. economy. As citizens and taxpayers, we would prefer to see enormous, consequential public policy decisions and changes to tax policy addressed in a bipartisan manner, which has surely not been the case with the Build Back Better plan.
