Farm Bureau Engages in Joliet Water Commission Legislation
Cook County Farm Bureau® coordinated with Illinois Farm Bureau® regarding the Joliet Water Commission legislation. This legislation authorizes certain municipalities to form a water commission which could potentially impact local Cook County communities and landowners.
In advance of the legislation, Farm Bureau had the opportunity to review the proposed maps and water lines to ensure that they would rely on existing roadways. Farm Bureau requested language regarding the municipalities that can create a water commission, an agricultural mitigation agreement, and a tightening of the eminent domain and quick take language.
Legislation was approved during Veto Session and many of the concessions that Farm Bureau requested were addressed. Farm Bureau will continue to monitor the issue as the commission forms.
