Plans developing for Centennial virtual historic displays, archives and more

09/02/2020 @ 2:55 pm

When the March 28 100-Year Anniversary Open House “Breakfast at the Farm Bureau” was postponed due to the COVID-19 shelter in place order, we also put on hold the celebration of the 100 years of Cook County Farm Bureau®.

However, in recent months, we have begun to move forward with various celebratory activities.

The Board of Directors commemorated the planting of the white oak tree in July. Construction of the Centennial Legacy Patio, in which members purchased pavers to benefit the Cook County Farm Bureau Foundation, has also begun.

The antique tool displays and historic archives are being converted into an online virtual viewing option. We will also provide to those stopping in to take a look on a first-come, first-served basis.

In October, the Board is planning a special CCFB building drive through for members to pick up the 100-year goodie bag. The special giveaway items include a historic coffee table photo book, coffee tumbler mug sponsored by COUNTRY Financial, centennial hat sponsored by Tee Jet, throwback recipe brochure with cedar cooking board, and more! During the drive through, members will have the opportunity to view the commemorative patio, the white oak and other related Centennial items. Watch for details next month.
