Cook County Farm Bureau Partners with the Illinois Department of Agriculture for Clean Sweep Collection

07/02/2020 @ 4:25 pm

Residents of 12 Illinois counties can dispose of unwanted agrichemicals for free this year through the Illinois Department of Agriculture's agricultural pesticide "Clean Sweep" program.

A "Clean Sweep" collection has been scheduled in late summer for Cook, Boone, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, LaSalle, McHenry, and Will counties. The collection is open to farmers, retired farmers, nursery owners, private pesticide applicators, structural pest control applicators, and landowners who inherited unwanted agricultural pesticides with their property.

Participants must register the product they plan to dispose of by July 22. Registration is required to give the waste disposal contractor time to prepare for the different kinds of materials that will need to be handled.

Forms can be obtained either by callling the Illinois Department of Agriculture's Pesticide Hotline at 1-800-641-3934 or by calling the Farm Bureau office at 708-354-3276. Completed forms will be mailed or faxed to the Department of Agriculture. Participants will be sent a reservation card indicating the date, time, and location of their collection.
