Ag Lit Bit"Escape with a book"
We’ve been given a gift this spring and summer, the gift of time. This summer promises to hold fewer summer classes, camps, pool outings, sporting events, and parties to name a few.
Some may have found we have more time for reading, while others continue to balance work with parenting, leaving less time. Whatever your situation, this summer may be the opportunity to explore a new book or reread a past favorite.
My to-do list includes more reading although I know I cannot begin to compete with many voracious readers I know. To give me a much needed boost, I’ve even decided to get back to a book club after a long absence. My last club got disbanded by our book club president as her members wanted to talk more about life than the book we read that month.
Hard to imagine, I know.
I know I should encourage you to focus on agriculture themes, however, any reading is just fine.
A book I recently discovered is a unique graphic novel titled The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, by Charlie Mackesy. With few words and amazing drawings, it couldn’t be a more perfect book to share this month. One line that sticks with me is, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” The answer: “Kind.” I’m guessing that should make a few of you look further.

Local libraries are open again and ready to share their wealth of books. Take advantage of our less scheduled lives this summer and grab a book, magazine, or even this Co-Operator and relax with only the words on the pages or pictures on the pages.
