Farm Bureau Releases Update on COVID 19

03/16/2020 @ 2:45 pm

Dear Cook County Farm Bureau members and friends,

Cook County Farm Bureau® has been monitoring the developments related to COVID-19.  Circumstances are changing daily. Aggressive and preventative measures are being taken to protect our individual and collective health requiring many of us to adjust our normal practices, impacting all of our daily lives.

We are communicating to members that due to our concern and interest in member safety and well-being, the Board of Directors has decided to postpone the Breakfast at the Farm Bureau 100 Year Anniversary Open House and Celebration originally scheduled for March 28, 2020. We believe that we have a responsibility to do our share to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

We will notify you as soon as the celebration is rescheduled. We appreciate the widespread member interest in being a part of this special time in the life of Cook County Farm Bureau.

In addition, some of our meetings and programming will be transitioning to online or electronic delivery or will be delayed or postponed.  We will continue to evaluate the most prudent delivery methods as the situation progresses. Please check our website or Facebook page for the latest information.

Through this trying and concerning time, Cook County Farm Bureau will continue to support our farmer and associate members through delivery of membership benefits and services, information and communication and issue and agricultural literacy management through technology.

Member services staff are available at 708-354-FARM (3276) from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. CST Monday through Friday.  You can also access information and services through our website www.cookcfb.org or facebook page.

We're here to answer your questions. We know the struggles members face are real and certainly not trivial.

We are working with the Illinois Farm Bureau® to communicate to state and federal officials:

  • The need for farmers to have access to capital.
  • Packing plants, milk processing facility and our nation’s ports need to be considered essential services and remain open.
  • The handling and supply system farmers count on to continue operations so that farmers can continue operating.

We wish all our members the very best of health now and always and thank you for your membership!

With kind thoughts…

Bob Rohrer, CAE, FBCM, Manager
