  • Melka’s Landscaping & Garden Center at 11606 179th St, Mokena, IL 60448 is hosting a fun and interactive children’s program – Make a Butterfly Bowl on Saturday, June 1st at 10:30 AM.  Children will create a planter that attract butterflies while learning all about them! $10.00 fee includes all materials and registration is required. Call the Garden Center at Melka’s at 708-349-6989, ext 3.
  • Whiskey Acres Distilling Co will host their first annual HomeGrown Music Festival on Sat, June 8th from 2-10:30 PM at 11504 Keslinger Rd, DeKalb, IL 60115.  The festival is featuring the best local and regional musical talent, spirits, beer and food.  Enjoy Whiskey Acres craft cocktails and craft beer, and nosh from a variety of food trucks. Show takes place on concert lawn adjacent to Whiskey Acres Distillery. All tickets are general Admission with lawn seating (bring lawn chair or blanket).  All ages welcome. Rain or shine event.  Tickets are $29.00 and parking is $10.00.
  • The Illinois State Horticulture Society is hosting a Summer Horticulture Field Day on Thursday, June 13, from 8 AM to 4 PM, 2019 at Tanners Orchard, 740 State Route 40, Speer, Illinois (20 miles north of Peoria).  The cost is $27 per person in advance, $35 on-site.   • The University of Illinois Extension is seeking volunteers to assist as judges for 4-H projects and to help with activities for the annual Cook County 4-H Fair scheduled July 20, 2019 at SeatGeek Stadium (formerly Toyota Park) in Bridgeview, Illinois.  No prior judging experience or subject matter experience is required… just seeking caring individuals who would like to make a difference in a child’s life.  Contact Chanita Anderson, Program Coordinator, by phone at 708-449-4320 or email at [email protected]
