01/04/2019 @ 10:00 am

The late William “Bill” Johnson was awarded the 2018 Illinois Farm Bureau Eagle Award for Excellence during the Illinois Farm Bureau Annual Meeting held in Chicago December 1 - 4. Johnson, an instructor at Joliet Junior College for 50 years, brought great enthusiasm and optimism for agriculture for all of the students that he taught. He worked closely with many organizations including local County Farm Bureau’s, 4-H, FFA, Illinois Pork Producers Association and more.

During his tenure at JJC, Johnson established four scholarship endowments in supporters’ names for agricultural education and was a key source for local media when it came to livestock, trade and marketing interviews. Johnson received numerous awards and honors during his years of service and he is missed greatly by the agricultural community.

The IFB Eagle Award for Excellence recognizes individuals or organizations for excellence on issues or programs important to Farm Bureau and agriculture on a statewide and/or national basis. The Will County Farm Bureau and Cook County Farm Bureau presented a joint nomination for Bill Johnson to receive this award.
